When I Rise

Dear precious friends,
As we embrace our soul filled Sunday I pray we can all take time to worship, be in his word, pray and stay connected deeply to our Lord and Savior. We need Him now more than ever. We are in a huge spiritual battle.
I love this song...
In the morning, when I rise, give me Jesus.
You can have all this world, just give me Jesus.
These lyrics are beautiful, and we might sing them gladly. However, are they really true?
We are certainly in a wilderness time...
When I think of the Israelites, I can’t help but think of our current circumstances in our nation.
In the wilderness, the Israelites had sinned greatly against the Lord. They had made a calf god. They had set up an image and worshipped it, directly disobeying the Lord's commands. They lacked faith in a God they could not see, and when their leader, whom they could see, Moses, disappeared up a mountain, they became afraid. They, like so many of us, gave into idolatry. God's wrath burned against these people. If he stayed near them, he would consume them. He would send them into the promised land, because he keeps his word. But he would not go with them.
Enter Moses. A man who lacked confidence in his abilities. And yet a man whom God had called. A man who loved the Lord more than any earthly thing.
When this man, Moses, heard that the Lord would not go with them, he pleaded with God. He said, "If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here" (Exodus 33:15)
Moses wanted to be with the Lord. His love for God burned so much brighter than his desire for temporary joys. He knew full well that apart from the Lord, he was hopeless and useless. His yearning to know the Lord and be sure of his presence with Him grew and grew
When I look at Moses, I am challenged by his desire for God. His confidence was not man-made, and his joy was not rooted in earthly pursuits. He longed for God and God alone.
I must ask myself: Is this true in my life? Do I long for Christ more than I long for earthly treasures? Do my desires for comfort, food, relationships, and beauty pale in comparison to my desire for Jesus? Do I long to simply sit at the feet of my Lord and know Him more?
It's only in Him that I can have true confidence. On my own, I am so broken. Without Him, I can do nothing good.
In the morning, when I rise, give me Jesus.
You can have all this world, just give me Jesus.
Amen!!
Please Take a moment sit at the feet of Jesus and listen to this Song...Click image:
