Dear Precious Friends,
On this fill our soul Sunday, I pray you have an amazing day of worship, fellowship, time with the Lord and resting in Him.
Yesterday I had the incredible privilege of walking through Victory Day which is an entire day committed to receiving the truth of God's word and committing every area of our life to Him and understanding how to overcome the incredible battles we all face. We are either in a storm, walking out of a storm or getting ready for a storm. In order to weather the storms of life, we must be rooted in God's word and have a strong foundation. As we know life throws some serious zingers at us and things we never see coming...
After 12 weeks of incredible teaching from God's word through our Pastor who teaches a life changing class which teaches God's truth in His word and how to activate it called Foundations, with an amazing group of very committed people who wanted nothing more than growing in their walk with the Lord and receiving the true victory that comes from the Holy Spirit. What a gift to have already gone through the class 2 years ago, then to go through the class again as a table co-leader. WOW!
To see and experiencethe amazing miracles and hearts that received the freedom and abundant life God desires for us was one of my best days ever.
(If you want to know more about this amazing 12 week course message me. The class is offered twice a year. I highly recommend! )
I'm sharing from the First 15 devo today and of course it is exactly what I believe we all need to hear!
Psalm 37:3-5 offers what I believe to be a blueprint for the abundant life God desires for each of us. David writes, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” When we place our trust solely in God we are filled with delight in him in place of the burden and weight of living life in our own strength. And when we delight ourselves fully in God, our desires come into line with his, allowing us to simply “do good” and “dwell in the land.” If we will trust in God he will both fill us with the desires he has for us and then satisfy those desires.
WOW.. WOW WOW... I did some research on the word delight and what it means Biblically... It is extremely helpful to look at this verse as saying, “When we delight in the Lord, He becomes our heart's desire and He will give us that desire because He gives us Himself.” What a stunning and personal God we serve who loves us so much and has fully given Himself to us as our Savior. When we seek fulfillment in Christ, we will live true lives of delight.
According to Rhonda Stoppe from Bible Study Tools, “True delight in Him causes us to take our sights off of what we want in order to long for what He desires.” A secular approach to delight places the focus on “me,” where a Christ-like approach places the focus on God.
When the people of God respond to his faithfulness with trust, he does mighty and incredible works. God delivered the entire nation of Israel through the trust of one man, Moses. He destroyed the walls of Jericho through the faithful marching of his people. He scattered the Midianites in response to the trust of Gideon. He delivered Paul and Silas from prison as they worshipped him in trust. The stories go on and on, but they all have this in common: God spoke his desires to his people, his people trusted him at his word in response to his character and faithfulness, and he did a mighty work in their favor.
Where do we need a powerful work of our heavenly Father today? Where do we need His help and guidance? Spend time meditating on the character and past faithfulness of our heavenly Father and place your trust in him in response to his trustworthiness. God loves us and longs to help us. He has a plan to deliver us from whatever comes against us. Just as he destroyed the enemies of his people time and time again, he will help us overcome whatever obstacle stands in our way today.
What do we need to do to activate this truth?
Place our hope and trust in God and follow him as he leads us to a life of victory and freedom. (First 15 devo)
