Dear Precious Friends,
As we welcome in a new day, thanking God for this gift no matter our circumstances, we seek Him first. With all the uncertainty around us, we must cling to our faith like never before. How can we can thrive in the face of uncertainty and how do we persevere in the unknown? Of course we know where we must turn for truth. God's word our absolute truth.
We must fix our eyes on Jesus. Our focus has to be on Him!
It can’t be on us or our circumstances. Have you ever noticed the more we concentrate on our troubles, the more our despair increases? Our fear and our worry will skyrocket. Yet, we all can choose to push the thoughts aside and focus on Him who gives us peace, joy, and the strength to persevere.
WE MUST TURN OUR FOCUS TO GOD
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2.
As we turn our face towards Him, our worries and fears turn into trust, and our mind quiets to hear His voice and plan.
When we focus on our Lord, His word, His truth, we embrace the unknown and thrive in the midst of it.
Here is what is most important:
Sit at His feet daily. Push away all of the distractions and solely be with Him. Our relationship with Him is our our most important one, especially when we can’t see the next step to take.
We must listen carefully for what He might be asking; Jesus loves to ask questions to help us find our way. We must not be afraid to inquire of Him. After all, questions help us to deepen relationships.
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8
We remember all He has done for us in the past, we share our heart of gratitude and we begin to think less of our circumstances and more of our blessings. Plus, it reminds us how much God cares about us and the details.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
God has the big picture in mind. We must shift our focus and seize what matters most to God.
Love is definitely at the top, as demonstrated by Jesus over and over again. He commanded us to love one another.
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-13 NIV
Jesus never let the distractions nor the busyness of life get in the way of spending time with His Father. Often in the Bible, we hear about Jesus removing himself to a quiet place to commune with God.
“But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.” Luke 5:16
We must fill our minds with God’s Word daily, even if it is solely a few verses. God speaks so often to us through His Word, and we don’t want to miss His wisdom or comfort.
Please share what helps you the most to persevere in the unknown. We learn and grow from each other in our community of faith.
Susie Larson shares the following :
When we allow the Holy Spirit to guard and guide us, when our thoughts are on things above, we find life and peace. God invites us to let peace rule and reign in our hearts at all times. May you see His promise of provision for the royal, sacred, generous gift that it is! May you seek peace and pursue it! May you pay closer attention to the condition of your soul, to the train of thoughts, and to where your perspective lies. When peace rules in you, God’s power will be all over you. May Jesus, the Prince of Peace direct your every step. The world is desperate for the tangible presence and peace of God. May you be a conduit to this Kingdom reality.
Colossians 3:2 ESV ~ Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
AMEN!
