Dear Precious Friends,
Here's the poem we read at every Thanksgiving. This is a beautiful reminder of truth. “Give thanks in all circumstances;for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
We have been tested like never before in 2020. What is our response? Radical gratitude. I LOVE THIS! What is radical gratitude? The Bible describes it like this: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV).Notice that the Bible says to give thanks IN all circumstances, not FOR all circumstances. There is a big difference!

You don’t have to be thankful for everything that’s bad in 2020. There is a lot of evil in the world, and not everything that happens in the world is God’s will.In fact, most of the time, God’s will is not done. Our will is done.So we don’t thank God for the evil in the world. We thank God in the midst of it.

Why can we thank God in every circumstance? Because we know HE is in control. We know God can bring good out of evil and turn even our mistakes into something that works out well.As believers, we also know we won’t live on Earth forever, we can’t lose our salvation, and one day we’ll be in heaven. And we know that no matter what happens, God isn’t going to stop loving us.There are hundreds of reasons to be thankful in all circumstances, even during this pandemic.“All circumstances” in the Bible means any, all, everything, anyone, all the time, anywhere, everywhere, and the whole thing—no exceptions! That seems pretty radical, doesn’t it? That’s why it’s radical gratitude. And the more GRATEFUL you are, the closer you’ll get to God!
