Dear Precious Friends,
On this Fill Our Soul Sunday, this day after celebrating Jesus' birth, we are reminded of our true purpose here. We are called to be a light in this dark world.
As we prepare for a New Year we are reminded of our purpose and to remember the things of eternal significance that keeps our focus on Jesus.
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus compares his followers to light, saying we "are the light of the world," unable to be hidden. No one puts a lamp under a bowl because a lamp is designed to help people see in dark places.
All of the words and actions of Jesus show the true nature of the world around Him. As His followers, we are to give light to those around us by doing and saying what Jesus did. By growing in our walk with Jesus every day, & following Him step by step, we partner with Him in spreading the truth.
John, said it this way: "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin" (1 John 1:5-7).
Light cannot be anything other than what it is. It's bright, it dispels darkness, it enables people to see what they are doing. God is light, and since He sent His Holy Spirit to live inside us as believers, so are we. As His ambassadors on earth, we shine even when we don't know it.
Jesus told His followers to "let your light shine before others," calling us to live an active faith, not a passive one. We are to walk in the light of Christ. Our circumstances are an opportunity to shine brightly for the Lord and to share God's overcoming truth with those around you. Our family and community can tell what we believe by how we live and by how we respond to life and it's many joys and challenges.
John 12:44-46 reminds us:
44 Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
We remember that Light and Darkness can not co-exist!
Jesus is the light of the world and as He instructed, the light should be exalted to the light stand. If we believe and follow Jesus and God the Father, then we too are in the light. Let us shine bright today and dispel darkness from every corner of our world so that everyone can see the truth of God’s word!
His light now shines in our hearts to light the way for those wandering in darkness to find their way to Him...
We thank you Father for sending Jesus into the world as the light. He has exposed the hearts and desires of man while offering salvation to those who turn to Him. May we Shine His Light in our world today and every day so that He may be glorified!
My friends, please lets commit to shining the light of Christ in this dark world as we place our hope in Him!!
AMEN!
