Dear Precious Friends,
It's a glorious new day, a start of a new week and we are reminded here that we are precious in God's eyes, honored and so deeply loved. Have you ever really thought about the word Precious....
The KJV definition of precious is :
PRE'CIOUS, a. L. pretiosus, from pretium, price.
1. Of great price; costly; as a precious stone.
2. Of great value or worth; very valuable.
She is more precious than rubies. Prov.3.
3. Highly valued; much esteemed.
The word of the Lord was precious in those days.
As we look at the context of when this scripture was written and what was happening in scripture, we find that God is here describing His sovereign choice of the Israelites as the vicarious nation through which he eventually will bless all the nations of the world. First, he will favor his people above them all. This is fitting since it is through Israel that the Messiah will manifest himself to take into his body the sins of the whole world.
God does this because of His glory (Isa 43:7), but importantly here, we see that He does this because of his great love for those he chooses.
This is a crucial point. God’s favor for us is not based on our works. The Israelites were woefully unable to do the good works that God’s nature and law requires. They were never going to be able to accomplish it apart from God’s intervention, which would only come about because it was God’s will to save. God so loved the world that he sent his only Son (Jn 3:16).
If you believe in Jesus and have put your faith in his name, then you are chosen by God (1 Pt 2:9). This is great salvation and it should be understood that the Father has set his love on you, simply because he desired it. It is His love that has reached out to save us, and it will be His love that returns for us to take Him to where he is.
So, let's break down this verse...
#1 “Since you are precious and honored in my sight,”
God’s people are precious and honored by him because of his own choice to honor us. This means that he will save us, and we will be with him for an eternity.
HALT.....!!!!... DON'T READ PAST THIS.... WE ARE PRECIOUS AND HONORED IN HIS SIGHT!!!! WOW WOW WOW!! GO BACK AND RE-READ THE BIBLES DEFINITION OF PRECIOUS...(HIGHLY VALUED, ESTEEMED, HONORED)
#2 “and because I love you,”
God is love. His love drives His actions and has caused Him to send His Son, who loved us and came of His own choice to give His life for anyone who would believe.
HALT AGAIN..... THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS, LEFT HEAVEN TO COME AND SAVE US, GOD BECAME MAN IN JESUS CHRIST. HE LIVED THE LIFE WE SHOULD HAVE LIVED, AND DIED THE DEATH WE SHOULD HAVE DIED.. IN OUR PLACE, THREE DAYS LATER, HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD, PROVING THAT HE IS THE SON OF GOD, AND OFFERING THE GIFT OF SALVATION AND FORGIVENESS OF SINS TO ANYONE WHO REPENTS AND BELIEVES IN HIM!!!
HE DIED FOR US, HE TOOK THE DEATH WE DESERVE...
Can we even fathom how PRECIOUS we are to Him? WOW WOW WOW!
#3 “I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.”
In the contemporary context of the verse, God means that He will favor the Israelites over the other nations.
In the ultimate context, when God exchanges people, it goes beyond the exchange of animal sacrifices and culminates with the exchange of his Son.
This is what GOD says about us! We are precious in His eyes, and He loves us! Isn’t that a wonderful thing? It is!!!!!
Just think about this:
You are so precious to God that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to this earth to die so that you and I wouldn’t have to die. So He says to you, “My Son/Daughter I died for you because you are worth it to Me. Don’t wait another minute. Run. Yes, run to His arms right now. Let Jesus whisper these words to you, “I love you, I love you and you are precious in my eyes.
NOW MY FRIENDS, this is what we are... PRECIOUS, HONORED AND LOVED.
NOW THAT IS REASON TO HAVE A MAGNIFICENT MONDAY AND DON'T LET THE WORLD EVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF THIS TRUTH.
AMEN!
