Dear Precious Friends
On this beautiful new day, this Psalm is that reminder before we do anything we talk to our Lord.
For centuries this psalm, called the Morning Psalm, has inspired us as believers to rise early to seek God, before the new day comes rushing in on us. How we spend the first hour of our day plays a major role in determining how the rest of our day will go. In the difficulties and challenges of life, we have discovered how right King David was. David is a wonderful example of a man of prayer, who trusted the Word of God. His prayer life was regular, systematic, orderly and faithful - and he prayed with expectation that God would answer his prayers. Morning by morning he directed his thoughts to the Lord, and lifted up his voice in prayer and praise.. to the God of his salvation. Day by day he discovered that God's mercies were fresh and new every morning, for he knew that the Word of the Lord endures for ever and ever - great is His faithfulness.
Moment by moment he reflected on the Word of truth - contemplating the glories of God, praising the Lord for His many precious promises and trusting God to deliver him from his enemies.. and from those that would seek to destroy him.
It may seem easy to do, but it is simple. When we start out our day first with with the Lord, worshipping Him, reading His word, and praying, it makes an enormous difference in the way that day plays out. We’re more likely to say and do the right thing throughout the day, and we also have a better chance of ending the day the right way. We have the word of God and the Holy Spirit guiding us. No matter what we face our Lord is with us! Spending that time with Him first, Seeking Him first, Laying our requests before Him changes everything.
I have seen this to be true in my own life and the life of my family. God has been with us through more battles than we thought possible. Every kind of setback, failure, heartache, and disappointment we have walked through.. . . you name it, has hit us, and yet God has been faithful through it all.
I'm asking for prayer for my friend Joseanne who is on her 11th day of intubation and we need a miracle. God is in the miracle business. Please join me in prayer that God would heal Joseanne the way we are asking and all who are battling Covid would be healed. To God be the glory now and forever.
“LORD, help us to seek You first thing each morning so that we may walk with You throughout the entire day. Thank You for Your mercies which are new every morning. Help us to be faithful in our prayer-life and may we come into Your presence with joyful expectation, knowing that You are a God Who hears and answers prayers - in Your own way and in Your own time - this we ask in Jesus name, AMEN.
