Dear Precious Friends,
On this beautiful new day, this gift from God, a new opportunity to be used by God for His purposes, we are reminded of God's promise to call on Him in our time of trouble. I must admit with all the news coming at us each day, and so many of us and our loved ones having great difficulties and loss, it is easy to fall into the pit of fear and despair. It is more important than ever, to armor up and remember the truth of God's word and stay focused in His promises or fear will reside in us. So what are we to do when trouble is all around us?
When we focus on our circumstances and not on our God, we may feel
hopeless and in despair of it all.
I know that this is where the enemy wants to keep us: stuck in my fear with emotions and dismal circumstances blurring my vision. He doesn't want me to remember that I have a lifeline—the hope for eternity that is found in God's Word.
But GOD!!! Stomp on the enemy. That's where I'm going right now, and I'm taking you with me. Let's take this fear, measure it against Truth and see what the Great I Am, the Alpha and the Omega and our Jehovah-jireh has to say:
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you (Psalm 9:9-10). Yes, I will seek the One who is secure and offers me protection! He is my safe place.
"Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me (Psalm 50:15). Yes, I will cry out to the Lord! Help me, my great Protector! You are worthy to be praised!
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe (Prov. 18:10). Yes, he is my mighty and unfailing fortress! Of whom shall I be afraid?
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal (Isa. 26:3-4). Yes, I will meditate on the Truth found in God's Word! I will think on the eternal, unchangeable God and not what I see happening around me. His perfect peace is available to me!
Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God (Isa. 50:10). Yes, I will trust in my God as I obey what he is asking me to do! He is all I need to guide me when life is confusing and my way is not clear.
I know I can't be the only one who has been "so afraid" as of late. And perhaps these verses will encourage you today as well. When we focus on the Lord instead of whatever or whomever makes us afraid, we can be confident in he who is our light and our salvation and the stronghold of our lives.
This is the Lord’s promise to us today, and we surely need it with all evil and trouble all around us. When we call upon Him, He will hear our prayer and rescue us from the trouble that has come to us. This is a promise from God in Psalm 50:15. He cannot lie; He will do as He has promised.
When we are you facing difficulty in any area of our life our first response is to call on the Lord. So often this is not our first response! God is standing ready to rescue us. He promises in His Word that He is near to all those who call upon His name. No matter what we may be going through, we can have confidence knowing that God is working behind the scenes on our behalf. He promises to rescue us! Notice that today’s verse tells us that our part is to honor and glorify Him. In other words, we don’t have to wait until everything is perfect to give Him praise. We can give Him honor and glory right now. We can thank Him for all He’s done in our life so far and what He will do in our future.
Call on the Lord today and focus on having an attitude of faith and expectancy. Speak His Word and declare His promises over your life. Trust in Him because He will take you places you’ve never dreamed. As we praise Him, He rescues us and brings us into the abundant life He has prepared for us! If this is where we are today in times of need, times of trouble, times of sorrow, times of ,the Lord is standing ready to rescue us. He promises in His Word that He is near to all those who call upon His name. So Remember who to call when trouble comes. We don’t need a number; all we need to do is call His name, Jesus. He is listening for our whispered prayer. Call on Him!
AMEN!
